Lost in Corporate ICC Quarantine: The 10-Episode AvP Anime Disney is Hiding From Us
While the Weyland-Yutani corporate suits love to keep us in the dark, an incredible piece of lost lore has been uncovered from the Hollywood outer rim. If you haven’t heard the rumors bouncing around the subspace relays, it’s time to talk about Alien vs. Predator: Annihilation – a fully completed, 10-episode CGI anime series that is currently locked deep inside the Disney vault.
The Dark Horse Visual Blueprint
The Calderon/Baker script drafts didn’t just borrow character names; they actively translated the dark, biomechanical, and gritty atmosphere of classic 1990s comic book art straight into the anime’s pre-production design.

Here is the tactical breakdown of what corporate doesn’t want you to see:
- The Creative Fireteam: The series was directed by legendary anime creator Shinji Aramaki (the mastermind behind Appleseed and Starship Troopers: Invasion).
- The Target Setting: Moving away from Earth, the main plot takes place in the distant future on a massive human immigration ship, set sometime after the events of Alien Resurrection.
- Adapting the Comic Lore: This wasn’t a loose adaptation. The series directly pays homage to 30 years of classic Dark Horse comic arcs and heavily features Machiko Noguchi – the fan-favorite human who lived and hunted alongside the Yautja. The 10 episodes were designed to track her growing from a young warrior into a seasoned general.
- The Lethal Variants: Production details reveal incredible new concepts, including a Cyborg Predator with a mechanical mandible, a Predator named Bone who wields tusks, and a completely original design for an Alien Queen.
Why haven’t we seen it?
The series was fully finalized, mixed, and ready for an “Alien Day” release around year 2016. However, 20th Century Fox shelved it to avoid conflicting with the live-action releases of Alien: Covenant and The Predator. When Disney acquired Fox in 2019, the completed $4 million project was buried in the vaults.
